“Tropical” was a really therapeutic piece to paint. I did it during a week where I seemed to be just zipping through projects. I knew I wanted to paint a candle with this colour combination (I had used it during one of my online workshops), but I had no plan as I added the first two rows. Then I just got tired of doing dots and swooped all over the place! Take your time and let this piece help you to take some good deep breaths!.

If you find yourself feeling like your design has more space than mine, you can either increase the size of your tools, increase the number of walking dot rows, and/or increase the number of swoops in the clusters.

This tea light holder is 5” in diameter and 1” tall. I made it with gypsum plaster with a mould I purchased from Lydia May of  Dot Art Depot.

This is a digital download. After purchase, you will receive an email with the PDF pattern attached to download.

Use this pattern to make beautiful things for yourself, to give as gifts, or even on items you wish to sell. Fill your boots! On a totally selfish side, I’d love it if you would tag me (@mandalaloveaffair on all platforms).

This pattern is not permitted to be sold or distributed in any way or for any reason not approved in writing by me, Jaime Merrithew, of Mandala Love Affair. This includes emailing/printing/sharing with another person, teaching in person or online workshops, or selling this pattern.

I use tools by DIY Mandala Stones, sizes 1-28, Happy Dotting Company tools, and nail dotting stylus tools. Tool sizes as well as colour brands/colours are all included in the download.

In this 14 page PDF, I will walk you through basic dot mandala pattern elements, prepping your paints and painting surface, drawing your guidelines, each step of this design, fixes & touch ups, and finishing/sealing your masterpiece. I hope the tips and tricks I share along the way, coupled with the colour photos, guide you through creating this mandala as joyfully as possible!
