“Ice Ice Baby” is a recreation of a mug design I did a year ago. Even though it was

created for a mug (or anything it can wrap around), I’ve seen these types of designs done on flat surfaces too. Don’t worry about getting the same sized mug as I used - I didn’t include how many dots are in the first row for a reason - I promise it doesn't matter and the design will work on everything from mugs, to bowls, to vases!

One other thing that’s super important - your mug/vessel shape is going to impact how you paint this design. Here are the scenarios that I can think of (if you find yourself in another scenario and need my help, shoot me a message on Instagram here.

Any parts of your mug/vessel that are narrower than mine (for example, if your mug is tapered on the bottom half, narrower on the top half, or straight up and down) will all result in you having less space to paint the pattern on than I did on my mug. If you don’t have as much space, if you’re feeling like the design is cramped, your best options are to either

a) Reduce the tool sizes on that part of the design; or
b) Reduce the number of rows of walking dots in the petal shapes, and/or reduce the
number of swoops in the clusters.

If you find yourself feeling like your design has more space than mine, you can either increase the size of your tools, increase the number of walking dot rows, and/or increase the number of swoops in the clusters.

Use this pattern to make beautiful things for yourself, to give as gifts, or even on items you wish to sell. Fill your boots! On a totally selfish side, I’d love it if you would tag me (@mandalaloveaffair on all platforms).

This pattern is not permitted to be sold or distributed in any way or for any reason not approved in writing by me, Jaime Merrithew, of Mandala Love Affair. This includes emailing/printing/sharing with another person, teaching in person or online workshops, or selling this pattern.

I use tools by DIY Mandala Stones, sizes 1-28, and nail dotting stylus tools. Tool sizes as well as colour brands/colours are all included in the download.

In this 19 page PDF, I will walk you through basic dot mandala pattern elements, prepping your paints and painting surface, drawing your guidelines, each step of this design, fixes & touch ups, and finishing/sealing your masterpiece. I hope the tips and tricks I share along the way, coupled with the colour photos of each step, guide you through creating this mandala as joyfully as possible!
